RBC Bronwen Wallace Award for Emerging Writers: Call for Submissions

The Writers Trust of Canada is accepting submissions for RBC Bronwen Wallace Award for Emerging Writers. To be eligible a submitter must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident, under the age of 35, unpublished in book form and without a book contract, but whose literary work has appeared in at least one independently edited magazine or anthology.

A prize of $5,000 will be awarded to the best collection of short fiction. Two honourable mentions will each receive $1,000 prizes. The deadline for submissions is 30 January 2012.

Writers' Trust Online Auction and Evening Fundraiser

 The Fiddlehead is a proud auction donor in support of Margaret Atwood in Vancouver, a fundraiser to benefit the Writer's Trust of Canada. Check out the Online Auction of Literary Collectibles, which runs from January 26th at 12:00 a.m. until February 2, 11:59 p.m., and bid on original art, cool memorabilia or a chance to have your writing edited by one of The Fiddlehead's fabulous editorial board members!

If you are in Vancouver, the evening benefit and live auction will be held on Thursday, February 3, at the Fairmont Hotel. The reception starts at 7:00 p.m. and at 8:30 p.m. Margaret Atwood will narrate a theatrical performance based on her best-selling novel, The Year of the Flood. The performance will feature the singers and actors from the original 2009 performance.

2010 RBC Bronwen Wallace Award for Emerging Writers Call for Submissions

The Writers Trust of Canada is accepting submissions for 2010 RBC Bronwen Wallace Award for Emerging Writers. To be eligible candidates must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident, under the age of 35, unpublished in book form and without a book contract, but whose literary work has appeared in at least one independently edited magazine or anthology.

A prize of $5,000 will be awarded to the best collection of poetry. Two honourable mentions will each receive $1,000 prizes. The deadline for submissions is 17 December 2010.
